A small shooter you can start immediately
CurioRaid is a free, portrait-oriented browser shooter built around short card challenges. The first button draws a topic card and opens the battle in the same action. There is no character builder, weapon shop or login screen between you and the ship. A card might be Saturn, a jellyfish, a compass or a castle. The real-world topic supplies a name and a source link; the enemy swarm and its shots are our original arcade mechanics. The game is designed for a quick run, with three waves and a result screen that offers another pack right away. Actual run length depends on how quickly you defeat enemies, whether you pause, and whether you choose the optional Super Weapon.
How to start in one tap
On the home page, choose Open Pack & Play. The site loads its fixed 48-card data file, draws a card, fixes a numeric seed and starts the first wave. On a card page, Play This Card skips the random draw and begins that specific topic. A copied challenge link can supply the same card and seed as a friend's run. The battle view shows your remaining hearts, the card name, the current wave and the normal weapon level. When the last enemy in the third wave is gone, a result screen reports your assist count and time. You can retry that exact run, share it or start another pack. All of these actions work without an account.
Move with one finger; shooting is automatic
Touch the arena and drag to move the ship. You can shift horizontally and vertically within the safe movement area; there is no separate fire control. The automatic weapon picks an available enemy target and sends shots toward it. This lets your finger concentrate on dodging the coral-colored enemy bullets. Keep an eye on the entire group instead of staring only at your ship. On a desktop browser, click and drag in the arena or move with arrow keys or WASD. The touch surface does not scroll the page while you are dragging inside the arena. If you need a break, the Pause control freezes the ordinary battle; Resume returns to it. Escape can pause or resume from the keyboard.
Understand health and normal upgrades
The ship begins with three hit points. A hit removes one, followed by a short protection period so a cluster of bullets cannot take all three in a single instant. If health reaches zero, the run fails and you can retry the same card and seed. The weapon gains damage during active play, first around the eight-second mark and again around sixteen seconds. You do not pick a rarity or pay for these upgrades. They are part of the ordinary clean-clear route, and the result will still say zero assists if you never claim the Super Weapon. Moving well keeps the ship alive long enough to benefit from that growth, especially against the final wave's tougher targets.
The optional Super Weapon is a real safety net
The Super Weapon button sits below the arena, away from the main drag path. Press it whenever you want a guaranteed clear. It protects the ship, clears current enemies and skips anything still waiting to spawn, then transitions to a win. It also appears after an ordinary failure as a clear choice beside Retry. You do not need to watch an advertisement, keep a stock of items or buy a pass. One deliberate activation marks that run as one assist; repeated impacts do not add more. A super clear still unlocks the card in the local collection. Use it for a relaxed tour of subjects, or ignore it and try to reach the same result with a clean clear.
What a clean clear means
A clean clear is a win with zero assists. It does not forbid ordinary weapon upgrades, movement or pausing. If two runs on the same card use the same number of assists, a shorter completion time becomes the next comparison. The site stores a personal best per card in the current browser when local storage is available. A shared link fixes the card, numeric seed and v1 rule version; the starting ship and weapon are the same. This makes a casual friend challenge understandable. It is not a server-verified competition: players control their own browsers, and the site does not claim to detect cheating or maintain world rankings. Your friend's result is theirs to report, not silently uploaded from your device.
Three runs worth trying
Start with Saturn for Orbit. The group loops around a center, making the gap move as you dodge. Then try Octopus for Cascade. Its rows descend in staggered lanes; watch the lower row before moving across the arena. For a different problem, try Windmill for Fortress. The protected core can only be damaged during its open interval, so surviving a directed volley matters as much as firing. These examples use three of the six formation families. The formation guide describes Spear, Spiral and Hive too. Each card has its own default seed and pacing modifiers, so direct card links are a useful way to practice one situation repeatedly.
Mobile, loading and recovery
The interface places the arena before long explanations on a narrow screen, with the Super Weapon in a separate button below it. Browser resizing scales the drawing without changing game coordinates. The same movement rules therefore apply at different widths, though a real device may feel different from desktop emulation. The game data is a static file, so there is no live Wiki request during a wave. If the file cannot load, the page displays an error and a Retry control rather than an empty stage. If your browser blocks local storage, play and sharing still work, while collection and best scores may not survive a reload. Sound is off: no music or automatic sound plays. Reduced-motion settings avoid decorative page motion and keep the super clear short.
After the result
Next Pack begins another random card without returning to a setup menu. Retry repeats the same card and seed if you want to improve your assist count. Share Challenge copies a reproducible URL; if clipboard permission fails, the site reveals the URL for manual copying. The collection lets you choose any of the 48 cards directly, even if it is not yet marked as collected. Want to know more about the subject behind a battle? Each card page links its Wikidata item and English Wikipedia topic, and the card guide explains what the source data does and does not provide. None of this reading is required to keep playing. The next run is always one clear action away.
Common questions
Is the whole game free? Yes; there are no advertisements or paid clears in this version. Can I aim? The ship aims automatically so that a finger can focus on movement. Can I replay after losing? Yes, on the same card and seed, or with one deliberate Super Weapon assist. Where are scores kept? On your device when browser storage is available. Does a share link include my personal data? No: it carries a card path, rule version and numeric seed, not a name or score. Press the play button above whenever you are ready to test a clean run.
